Expert advice can be dangerous.
First, their advice can be dangerous. Next, their profile can be padded or faked. And that makes the expert advice exponentially dangerous.
Why do I say that?
Take a look at our society today and we can see evidence of expert-based economy. We listen to the top dogs with fanciful titles such as President, C.E.O.s, senior advisors and whatnot.
And in social media, everyone seeking attention will tag themselves as an expert of sorts.
The Subject Matter Expert for digital transformation.
The Subject Matter Expert for social media marketing.
The Subject Matter Expert for the future of Artificial Intelligence.
The Subject Matter Expert for the post-Coronavirus era.
This madness will not end, because attention drives marketing. Marketing influence sales.
The onus is on us to discern those with credentials and those with nothing behind their talk.
If there is no way to distinguish the real expert from a fake one – This is my genuine advice.
RUN.
